MacMurray Centre, Epsom
Maungawhau Enterprises Limited and MacMurray Institute negotiated a lease agreement for the establishment and operation of a new purpose-built healthcare clinic at 5 MacMurray Road to replace the existing clinic located on the neighbouring site, which had reached its capacity.
MacMurray Clinic specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of digestive diseases and endoscopy services, and the new facility is designed to create a peaceful and calm environment.
The new double-storey facility designed by Warren and Mahoney Architects features a modern design that maximises the use of glazing to the street frontage and is constructed from a mixture of textured concrete and timber cladding, with a coloursteel roof. The design complements the scale of the residential activities that were previously present on the site and along MacMurray Road.
The street-facing façade of the building incorporates extensive areas of glazing, framed by an architectural feature to ensure the building contributes positively to MacMurray Road, while at the same time maintaining an appropriate degree of visibility between the street and the building interior, and passive surveillance to the street at the ground floor level.
RDT Pacific was engaged by the client at the pre-concept design stage with incumbent architects, which enabled us to select and engage a suitable consultant team for the project who specialised in healthcare. This worked well and resulted in a design of high specification that exceeded the client’s expectations.
