RDT Pacific has added significant value to the high-level project thinking and detailed design concepts. They assembled a dedicated and professional team of supporting specialists to guide and advise the project steering group through the myriad of issues to seismically upgrade the historic 1950’s administration building. The team has worked hard, we’ve had some fun, and are currently in delivery mode having analysed options and opportunities and agreed on a final engineering and architectural solution. It has been challenging, but we have respect for the manner in which RDT Pacific and their staff have managed the project both up the management hierarchy and down to the main contractor level. It has been a pleasure working with them, and we are looking forward to delivery of a stronger, essentially new building.
Many challenges were overcome by your management team who were well led by Mike Hanson. Mike is thorough and shows a high degree of technical knowledge and ability. He is a committed Project Manager who takes a “best for project” view in everything he does. Importantly, given the wide range of stakeholders involved with the project, Mike’s ability to engender a team-based, collaborative working environment has been a key contributor to the project’s success.
The team from RDT Pacific were totally professional, responsive to our needs and forthcoming with options to add value and maximise savings throughout the project.
This was a complex project and we were impressed with the way RDT was able to assist us with the management of the Design and Build Contract. In particular the coordination of the various stakeholders and the ‘solution orientation’ approach to assisting the contractor demonstrated by RDT Pacific was one of the key reasons for the very successful outcome that was achieved.
The main building is exceeding expectations. It enables natural synergies among teams, it’s safer, thanks to a fit-for-purpose layout; and it encourages interaction with partner agencies and the community. It’s also highly flexible to change and growth and represents a sound investment through reduced operating expenses and optimised value. This flagship Police Station is already an iconic presence in the centre of Rotorua City. The new premises offer local police an opportunity to ‘do a whole lot of things better’: to better serve victims of crime, the general public and each other.
Work on the centre has progressed ahead of schedule and we can’t wait to welcome people through the doors and to see them enjoying the new facilities. It is going to be a major milestone for the east and a cause for celebration.
Their professionalism, depth of industry knowledge and strategic mind-set has enabled Wairaka Land Company (Unitec) to deliver projects on time and within budgets and given the market conditions these projects were conceived in this was no mean feat. It has been a pleasure to work with the RDT team.
This theatre will be more than an iconic arts centre for the whole region. Identifying the best location for the new theatre and integrating that with Hamilton’s aspirations as a city, and the Waikato’s aspirations as a region, is fundamental to the success of the project.
