Governors Bay Fire Station
Located on the Banks Peninsula in Canterbury, the Governors Bay Volunteer Fire and Emergency team desperately needed an upgrade and repairs to their Fire Station, but being fully operational was non-negotiable.
Providing an essential service to the Governors Bay community is one thing, but their proximity to Christchurch and the Port Hills has seen the Governors Bay volunteer firefighters mobilise to attend large scale emergencies. They were there for the Christchurch earthquakes and more recently, the Port Hills fires.
To meet the challenges of their location, the Governors Bay firefighters need a sound operational base.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand engaged RDT Pacific as Cost Manager as part of a wider project team to carry out much-needed construction and upgrade works to the Governors Bay Fire Station.
The RDT Pacific team delivered Cost Management/Quantity Surveying services including budget estimating, tender review, cost reporting, value management and post contract administration.
Variations, resulting in project overruns, are typically associated with unforeseen works. , The RDT team’s quick response to changes kept the Fire Station operational, and supported the project’s completion within budget and on time.
RDT Pacific has worked with Fire and Emergency New Zealand on a number of projects across the South Island, providing Cost Management and Engineer to the Contract services.
